Safeguarding Policy Statement
The purpose of this policy statement is to protect children and young people from harm, particularly those who are beneficiaries of The Trust. The Salford Foundation Trust (The Trust) is registered with the Charities Commission and our Charity Number is 110530.
Our people (Trustees, staff and volunteers)
Where appropriate, staff, trustees and volunteers will be required to complete DBS checks where necessary. This is reviewed every quarter to determine whether the work of the Trust or any changes in its working practice require additional input e.g. enhanced clearance.
Service Provider
We encourage and expect best practice from any organisation who receives payment for a child or young person supported by The Trust. As part of The Trusts’ offer and due diligence we require confirmation via email that providers have suitable safeguarding policies in place, for example; that they comply with any safeguarding standards mandated by their local authority’s Safeguarding Board and any umbrella body (e.g. Sports Council) that they belong to; that appropriate safer recruitment processes are implemented for all staff and volunteers that work with children or young people.
If a safeguarding concern is raised about or a service provider, the matter should be dealt with using their own procedures in the first instance, as laid out in their Safeguarding Policy. Any concerns should be reported to the Police, Children’s Services and any associated bodies where necessary. The Trust’s Safeguarding lead should be notified if the safeguarding concern could in any way affect a Trust beneficiary or The Trust’s relationship with the Provider.
Information sharing and data protection
Upon receipt of an application The Trust will anonymise the form prior to sharing with its Board of Trustees and Committee Members, to protect the identity of the applicant and their family.
The Trust is mindful of sharing of information with other parties through social media and/or fundraising activities and will only share information/stories with permission and discretion.
